I wanted to use daggers at the beginning, but at the same time I really wanted to design some kind of armor, and that makes him to heavy to use agility based weapons. gaunlets were actually my second choice, but I dropped it for the same reason I didn't go for daggers. Then I kept sketching this big badass two handed sword in his hand and this is what I ended up with. It is not the coolest of designs by any stretch, but I am not into character design in the first place, so I didn't expect much from it. Here is lineart btw
