look, gesture does not help if you cant draw basic 3D shapes/volume
begin doing a 50/50 of gesture and 3D manequin, otherwise you are just wasting your time

a good way to see how this is true is looking at the first chapter of Hamptons anatomy book where he deals with gesture, you will see how important it is to know basic 3D otherwise pure gesture as a beg is going to reenforce 2D symbol drawing in a very bad way
