/ic/ was always on the verge of collapse and the only thing that kept it together were artists making and discussing art, which held back the tide of no-life shitters. There's little here for them now and they don't stick around so all that is left are the dregs. It's /r9k/ for art.

Read and listen to music. Conjure images in your mind. Sketch those ideas as thumbnails and evolve them.

The "Go-getter" mindset is not a meme, but time put into a new mentality. Education requires strict focus - for this, pleasure cannot be involved, nor distraction. If I cannot listen to music nor be on my phone while reading - I have to realize the same must always apply to drawing (yes, this applies even with digital art). A "go-getter" mindset is not achievable if you're not consistently re-thinking your actions and correcting your everyday errors.

It takes a LOT of work and self-reevaluation, but it IS achievable in the long run.

How do you very gently shatter some kid's ego without it coming back to haunt you? I'm doing lessons for a coddled fucker who's been lied to his whole life, thinks he's 'industry' material, but is every /beg/ excuse and stereotype imaginable. No eye for mistakes. Absolutely no aesthetic sensibility either. Endless >muh style.

I don't know if I should show him the inside of the mind of an artist or drag him through the russian academic gulag just to make a point. I'd quit but it's a tricky situation if I do and the money would be nice if it weren't hell. I need a subtle (or not) way to chip away at some hubris before I do something stupid.
