Does anybody even say 'big sis' in english? I've never heard or seen it outside of translators shoehorning it in.

Most japanese name games fit into the not translatable category imo. We just don't have english equivalents and the literal translations tend to be unnatural.
Translators have a strange attitude about protecting people from words as if readers are retarded, meanwhile any random elementary school kid can rattle off endless amounts of gibberish capeshit terminology because picking up vocabulary is piss easy.
