Looks like he's using the gun backwards. For clarity it should be more vertical and have him hug it OR upside down cause you're supposed to carry a baby belly-up.

Flatten the gradient and erase where needed. Or mask some parts and apply a Selective Color filter.
I'm an advocate for just making a color sketch and painting directly in colors, though.
