art school was great, solid illustration course which really honed our ability to communicate visual narrative and concept. and to encourage to delve into the aspect of the industry and niches that appealed to us.
loads of great conversations with practicing illustrators, agency owners etc got a great understanding of what the industry was like.

did a looooads of ketamine through all 3 years, went to sweet parties, banged a load of hot but mentally unstable chicks and got a 2:1 while producing some of my best work ive ever made, levelled up in drawing and photoshop hugely.

of course since leaving I ended up doing a much wider range of work (whoever would pay me) more vector graphics and flyer design using hand made elements.

but the contacts and scenes I got involved in meant I had a solid network of events promoters, producers, djs musicians and circus artists which has only gotten stronger over time and continued to provide me with work doing custom lettering, logos, ep covers and events flyers (less of those since covid of course)

Sold a lot of drugs at festivals, and the salesmanship/entrepeneurial skills I learned from doing that seamlessly transferred over to running my freelance business.
(being available, able to identify demographics at a distance and come up with some kind of product or service which suited them specifically)

tl:dr art school was great, yes I still owe all my student loan but fuck them it gets written off in another few years (be careful how much you earn otherwise youll have to pay it back)
