It's been a while since i made one of these. I hope you guys enjoy the images as well as a bit of a story about my progression. I ended up typing way too much...

Left side: 2010. This year was when i realized i didn't have to adhere to any "rules" with art. So... things got weird. I made a TON of art and a lot of it. very odd subject matter, almost like i didn't care. I was comfortable with using markers only but started experimenting with ink. Also dabbled in some digital work when i got a tablet PC. Sadly I was so stuck on using markers, that using other mediums often turned out sloppy. Two high school painting classes helped me pull out of this habit in late 2010, however, my application was still muddy and whacky.

In 2011,, I neglected to photograph any of my work from this time. It is likely all thrown away. I did make good progress in that time, from what I remember, because I was able to afford better supplies. Was mainly using gouache and ink. This was first time i felt "comfortable" using liquid medium. I was able to shape up quite a bit by doing studies and using refs. I don't have much work saved from early 2012 sadly.

Right side: Late 2012 to 2013. using more mediums. prefer ink&gesso combination. I don't draw or paint very much at all, so I try to make it "worth it" when i do. This makes me sad sometimes, and often anxious, because i can't churn out work like i used to. I am failing to use references so the anatomy I draw is flawed, often incorrect; but, still, improved due to past studies / paying attention to people irl. my rendering and understanding of light has improved somewhat, but i still don't understand proportions as much as i'd like. Because of my anxiety about drawing & subject matter with humans (oh god why don't i draw clothes ever or real situations), i began painting abstract landscapes, which is helping me work on my painting skills in the meantime.
