some advice.
when painting black skin or any skintone, think about the tonal qualities of the skin : it always comes in different color variations. for this type of dark skin (very dark) they would range from purplish to reddish. how skin comes off will also depend on the light source. always look up references for skintone! get a lot of pictures of that skintone and paint from them before trying to paint skintone from imagination.
i don't really understand your light source here. there is direct lighting but the way you set it up is very dim. normally in scenes with such direct lighting the lighted areas would be very bright and there will be a lot of contrast with the shadows. even on black skin the highlights will be very bright, almost white! in your picture the colors are dim and muddy. i recommend that if you do anatomy studies you just keep it to values - color will distract you from the form and you won't get it right (the form nor the color). as for your color studies they shouldn't be form-focused/anatomy-focused : prefer speedpainting for color studies, focus on the color and not the form. i really recommend color and light by james gurney (perfectly and simply explains color).
