/ic/ - Artwork/Critique

I'm not saying that kyle is some master artist or whatever. But I really like his work and I was wondering what's /ic/'s thoughts on what it would take to be able to get to this level in art?

Obviously this isn't my end-goal but its far enough above my present level that i've set it as a goal to become ATLEAST as good as this within the next handful of years. I just have no idea what it takes to actually get there. I've been browsing through his blog but getting any sort of solid/useful advice out of this guy is like pulling teeth. So what do you think?
