Eh, this method doesn't work well most of the time. I think it takes a specific color pallete to get it to look like krenz's colors, and even then why not just use those colors on the original painting if you're so restricted? Also, doing this increases the contrast, making the skin look less soft-- it's better to just paint it with the colors that he uses rather than this technique.
