That's Korea not Japan. Japanese culture has been distinct from China's since the BC era. Korea has literally always been "Little China" up until Japanese occupation after the 1st Sino-Japanese War, then it became "Little Japan.'" After WW2, the US occupied it, and now it's "Little America".
