I've never drawn from imagination. Huston seems to draw using construction even when drawing from life/reference and that's what I'm trying to practice but it feels like I'm cheating myself into thinking I'm feeling the form when in reality I just do some crappy construction and then ignore it and start drawing like I usually do (linear block in/thinking in shapes).
First image was my construction, second my finished drawing trying to stick to it, third one is my attempt at fixing my drawing with liquify ignoring form/construction and just thinking in shapes. I don't think I can nail construction from the very start, but then I have to choose between sticking to it and getting an odd looking drawing or ignoring it and draw as usual to get something that looks closer to my reference.
