It would suck if this thread fell off page 10 without mentioning Chris Achilleos.

This was not the only piece Achilleos did for GW, but it was the only one they commissioned him for (they also used his painting of Taarna from Heavy Metal on the cover of White Dwarf #77) that was set in the 41st millenium. In his book Amazona, he wrote:

>This picture was commissioned for a role-playing board game, but to the best of my knowledge was never used. There is nothing like this particular painting represented anywhere else in this book; a strictly science-fiction piece packing serious hardware. It's a rarity for me to paint such subjects, but it makes a nice change.

I think it was meant for Advanced Space Crusade or maybe Tyranid Attack, but they ended up not using it.

I love Chris Achilleos, but that's not one of his books I have. It's 20%-off at Half-Price Books for Presidents' Day, though, so maybe I'll find one shopping this weekend.
