Like I’m just a historian when it gets right down to it. like as an example I've spent the last almost 3 years doing acrylic paintings with zero prior experience with painting. I intentionally leaned into doing things "wrong" and making rules around subverting rules. The only training or help I've sought out have been by shitposting on /ic/ and /tv/ and stuff and working things that anons tell me to do into muh rules. As a result I've developed a novel aesthetic that would probably be pretty hard for most people, particularly painters, to be able to emulate.

I picked something I had no training or experience in and through constant trial and error and self-sabotage I've become relatively-efficient at my own process and moderately "skilled" at being able to produce "my" paintings.

And honestly I'd recommend other people try learning a new medium in the dark. You appreciate WHY there are rules way more when you've spent a lot of time breaking them and doing things wrong.

I straight up built muh meme project framework I'm working on around doing a full Van Gogh where no originals can be sold until AFTER I get shot in the chest after I beat the nerd.

Like before 2016 I spent all of my 20s doing wage slut work and free lancing in production while just being a faggot about muh art and doing shit like never sharing anything I drew or destroying it or whatever. And I would do the poorfag trap shit where i'm like "I can't afford to invest in paints or printmaking stuff" but then I'd still be buying vidya and drinking and eating fast food and shit. All the time that I spent justifying NOT doing productive stuff and "investing in myself" in my 20s is what I cringe most about now. I could have been painting memes the whole dang time.
