I drew characters that I wanted to and I'd usually color them, though I do have drawings that I never do finish nowadays. I like this term I read here recently, it's "analysis paralysis" and that's the thing everyone should be avoiding. If you're spending more time thinking about how to go about improving, you're already doing the wrong thing. Load up references and material and then get drawing. Time isn't slowing down for you, so you should get to work today and draw
