Is this a good example of soul versus soulless? Can you help me compare and contrast these two styles images?

I like the top panel, it reminds me of Urasawa a lot mixed with your own personal tastes.
I don't know what your art looks like, but the guy on the lower right eyes look too close together. I see a bit of that with the guys on the upper panel too, but again I haven't seen other examples of your art. The sternals muscles are extremely thick, the guy looks like he has no neck and its just his back muscles.
Also the line weight of the dead guy should be fixed imo, make it thicker or the same size as your regular lines.

I think the reason why its "uncanny" is because of the lines being too clean and sharp, but you can easily fix that with filters or small blur adjustments etc. to make it look like a manga scan that has subtle jitters when you zoom into the lines. I say uncanny because it looks like manga- but we're used to seeing them one way (scanned and drawn in traditional ink) that it looks "off", but again that can easily be fixed within seconds so don't worry too much.

But overall you're pretty close to making it
