I am a bit of an elitist when it comes to technique, but I tend to give comics a pass because sometimes narrative and pacing do a lot for keeping someone interested. I think you're pretty decent at choosing the planes to narrate, you could polish this by reading more comics, but watching animation and movies helps as much.

Aiming for realism is obvious and you have to learn it, but you seem to have sort of an idea of how to present your drawings, don't lose it on the way just for the sake of looking "realistic", probably lots of animation you know or like don't follow look that amazing on the surface, just to keep in mind.
