Emperor's Teeth, anon, what "overseas" country are you living in where Amazon Prime (my wife's favourite Autobot - I think he transforms into a delivery van) can't just roll up to your house and deliver this book to you for a fraction of MSRP?

I looked at getting the Leyendecker book when I was in Manhattan - they had them shrinkwrapped at The Strand bookstore there - but I wasn't about to pay full price when I could just wait until I got home.

>Red pill me on the hype for him.
Norman Rockwell copied Leyendecker's style and became That Famous Guy Who Painted All The Saturday Evening Post Covers - taking Leyendecker's job and edging him out. Prior to that, it was Leyendecker who painted the covers - and the famous Arrow Collar advertisements. His painting style is nothing short of astounding.

There was at least one anon in this thread for a while - could have been the same guy every time - who was just *dying* to have this book scanned. It's a big, heavy book with lots of pages. I thought about buying it when I was at the Strand bookstore in Manhattan - they had it new in the shrinkwrap - but they offered no discount and a quick check of Amazon's prices on my phone told me I would regret buying it there.

I added it to my wishlist on Amazon so I wouldn't forget to look into later; meanwhile, my wife used my wishlist to pick out some things for me for Father's Day. Hence, I'm reticent to tear it apart; what you see in >>4178267 was my effort at photographing several of the pages featuring large Arrow Collar advertisements (one persistent anon specifically requested these) or Leyendecker's other paintings in that style.

It's gonna take longer than two years, but here was my approach:

>1. Get an education
>2. Get a real job
>3. Find a girl, get married
>4. Have children, thus making you a father (this is important for Step #8)
>5. Keep drawing. You've been drawing this whole time, haven't you?
>6. Make good money - at least six figures.
>7. Go to the Strand in Manhattan. Horrified at the book prices, mark the books you want on your Amazon wish list instead so you remember to get them later.
>8. Receive said books for Fathers' Day

It's a big book, and so far, largely a biography - lots of examples of his work, though. I knew nothing about Leyedecker before this, but was familiar with Norman Rockwell. The younger Rockwell basically copied Leyendecker's style, assumed, his role, and moved into his life, edging him out.
