The AI debate is annoying because it's essentially two factions of retards missing the big picture and fleeing from their own shadow. AI is garbage at making original, imaginative work. What it's great at - phenomenal at, really - is generating quick mockups and detailed references in an approximate generic style, which can then be referenced and interpreted (made artful) by a human artist with a specific vision. No longer do you have to cobble together multiple references into a cohesive image, AI can do at least some of the work for you. To not use it in this fashion is to shun the greatest reference machine ever conceived.
It's not mogging artists, it's mogging stock photo repositories. Probably why Getty and the like are getting in on this thing before they're obsoleted.

Sometimes I take pictures of myself doing the pose. Especially now, as I’m more built body wise than I was 4 years ago

What I was getting at was the fact that taking posed photos of yourself and then using that as reference to draw is ok with me. He does not steal stuff from others and he creates his own interestnig compositions in his drawings.

And mindlessly tracing art from other people without any real skill involved is just wrong. It's stealing other ppl's work and it certainly does not teach you much about drawing.

And the most important thing perhaps is this:
>Paolo Rivera uses his self made reference pics in creative ways to create good art.
>Greg Land swipes and traces everything like a brainless retard, and it still looks like shit.
To reinforce my point the kind anon posted a pic >>3413596
and also, pic related.
