con't. people should post more work. even doodling is better than lamenting about your skills or journey.

>However, with gesture, I just see a limb going vaguely in some direction and Ill try to quickly capture it somehow.

so slow down. sure, gestures can be a quick exercise, but don't just slap down a line without thinking about it. this is true for anything you do - each stroke requires some degree of intent. we can't guess our way to the answers. as far as drawabox is concerned, please don't fall into the trap of just doing those exercises. look at them as warm-ups to improve your understanding while continuing your normal practice. so maybe warm up with those lessons for 10-20 minutes, then go and draw what you want to draw. balance practice with play.

thanks anon, your fwap looks good.

I will continue to recommend drawabox to anyone whose line quality or forms would benefit. it worked for me. it's not for everyone, but that's true of basically any learning experience. there is no one size fits all course/book/whatever.

>Well I rushed the plate and arm once I realized how fucked the lower body was.

why rush? unless you have a commission obligation, there's no reason to speed through your process. if you see something wrong, you have two choices: fix it or leave it. I often opt to just leave it. noticing your mistakes is already half the battle. use the next drawing to do it better. as far as reference, it's up to your interpretation. you can try to find a reference similar to your pose, or you find an artist you like who has done a similar idea and emulate them. when you are clueless or confused, you need something to fall back on. the answer won't just appear without some intentional study.

glad to see you are confident in your progress. don't get attached to arbitrary labels like /beg/ or /int/. define your own success. you are happy that your faces are improving - that is enough.
