looking for critique/advice to improve bc my method is essentially just painting and re-painting like a fucking caveman until it looks like what it's supposed to be or I don't want to work on it anymore

Here's something I did earlier today. It's acrylic paint along with coffee grounds used to stain the background. I would like some advice because I often feel as though I am fighting against the paint to cooperate with me, I think oils would be better for me because the main thing that pisses me off is my paint on the pallet drying too fast for my own comfort.
