Yep, you are absolutely right friend. Do enough perspective till you internalize it, but remember you don't need to know all the techniques to start FZD, pretty much all you need is to internalize how to draw boxes from different angles so you can draw them free hand, and work your way from there.


Doing every construction drawing by making vanishing points and all the measuring is something one does at the very beginning to really learn it and internalize it, after that it becomes really, really time consuming and unnecessary. (This is when Peter Han teachings start to matter, right after Scott Robertson How to Draw Book).

That's exactly what you should do actually, I never opposed Handprint source, it's honestly a very goo source too. Erik and Olson go into a lot more detail and in a more manageable way too, plus it gives you clear and concise exercises to practice to really ingrain it in your brain.
