no, anon, in my opinion you shouldn't give up
as far as the actual drawing goes it's not too bad for a beginner. you should still focus on breaking the old habits of symbol drawing, but it will be a process and probably won't happen over night so just keep practicing smart and challenging yourself.
I edited the picture just using the transform tool to make it slightly more normal without even so much as drawing a line.
the biggest issue is the gap between the eyes and bottom of the nose/mouth is too big. the second biggest issue is that the chin is too far from the mouth. the third issue is the lips are protruding a bit to far forward (I think).
take this with a grain of salt, I am a beginner too.
