I started drawing about 3 days ago and I got a little bored of drawing boxes, so I decided to try recreating and studying a piece of art I saw that I liked. This was the result.

I wasn't exactly trying to copy it 1:1 because I knew it was probably out of my skill set, but I tried to get as close as I could. I realized about halfway through that some proportions were off, like the shoulders, neck, face. I should have gone back to fix them before I got too far in, but I opted to just kind of work with what I made instead. I tried to compensate the shittier proportions using new shadows, kinda winged it here and there based on what I felt looked better in my shittier version.
I don't know if I got as much out of this study as I could have, I mean I tried to think about every decision the artist made and why they did what they did, but I'm worried I glossed over too much simply because I don't know any better.

I'm not really sure what I'm going to do from here. Continue drawabox for sure but I think I'm going to try and hammer away at anatomy and perspective as much as I can because while I understand them conceptually really well, I'm not dexterous enough to produce them consistently well.
