I was watching a GDC presentation where a guy from naughty dog or some shit was talking about how concept art is made and what he likes (btw it was some really basic bitch stuff like that movie Oblivion and the kinda shit you see in a 343i Halo game) to see in concept art.
Since concept art for games and movies nowadays is mass produced and these artists are on strict and short deadlines, they use all sorts of shortcuts like tracing from a 3D model and photobashing. I don't blame these guys for doing this, since they need to make a living somehow and keep up with the work thats thrown at them and they probably have zero passion and minimal interest in the project anyway. These projects have fucking huge budgets and time is of the essence. I think this apathy for the project and the way corners are cut to meet deadlines is why a lot of modern vidya and movies look like shit and kinda samey.
Fuck concept art desu.
