Well I had a whole post written out but then I refreshed and saw the other replies. Do what those guys said and also I wrote some notes for you. Hope this helps, this is just what I've learned so far in my own gesture studies. Don't worry at all about the anatomy or proportions yet, especially if you haven't learned any in depth anatomy stuff yet. Just try to get the gesture right and learn to build up the figure with basic shapes.
