I find most of my life drawing has a relatively flat, somewhat stiff look, I realize shading can help with this but when I look at sketches of artists I really like such as Frazetta, it's clear you get a sense of movement and 3d space. So I guess I want advice on perspective, I think my proportions are pretty ok. Do axis lines really help that much? I underuse them, because I find the more guidelines I put down the blocky-er a character turns out. I'm going through Bridgmans life drawing currently.

My first try with a dip pen, I'm happy so far, quite a bit to go.
