For it to be diagnosed it would need to cause distress or interfere with your ability to integrate into society.

vague symptoms of mild depression would just be generally long periods of feeling lethargic or apathetic (I'm sure google can provide a better setup).

People in general have a natural eb and flow in their mood, whether its due to hormonal/chemical issues or being caused by outside stress.

I'm of the opinion that people are more often than not depressed because of unhealthy habits, or because of unhealthy worldviews.

It really becomes a problem if you still are depressed AFTER making all of the changes to your lifestyle and routine that commonly get recommended (adding daily exercise, healthy eating, etc.) OR if you find yourself unable to even have the discipline to make those changes. In those situations that is when you should definitely look into medical intervention.

If medical options are not viable, then looking into something like mindfulness meditation or Buddhism may be useful (a chunk of modern psychology parallels Buddhist philosophy)

P.S. idk wtf im talking about. take at your own risk and talk to a professional
