Nah, Alola was chill as fuck imo
The overall atmosphere and locations were much better presented
traveling didn't feel too linear and too dragging like kalos, which is just a big hallway filled with a fuckton of trainer encounters and a shitton of flowers
breeding and ev training was faster and easier
HMs being replaced by the pkm-service or whatever it was called
They were really going in a good direction with the game.

Anon, it's pokemen, the only difficulty is only being underleved, which you will never be even by just rushing past everything you can with exp share off.
I finished Sun in about 20 hours without rushing it too much.
I played a nuzlocke of Y just a few months ago, finished the game in about 12 hours iirc.

Sun is the last game i bought because i was just tired of pokemon since it's just the same shit just over and over and now that they're getting with the whole dlcs and shit with Sword and Shield, the games are just going to get even lazier and shittier.
I mean, they got so desperate they even made a pkm moba.
But that's beside the point; what i'm trying to say is; consumers will gooble up anything with pokemon on it.
And to stay on the thread topic;
What you want to do as an artist, is take advantage of the gobblers.
Always draw the newest pokomin the instant it gets revealed.
Or just draw pokemons.
I mean, you can make really shitty pokemon art and you'll even get followers.
