Hey man looks great. I think I can help on this though. It's more of a matter of taste and style but maybe you could try make the lines on the hat follow the shape of the folds and creases. It helps make things look less flat (although having the hat as just a flat mass could look cool I think...).

Actually I'm not even sure if you did follow the shape or not, I think you're using the wrong paper for this. The grain is big and you're losing a lot of details (Unless it's what you were aiming for).

Check out Leyendecker's sketches, he's a beast at this. Actually check all of his stuff, really worth it.
