It takes a knowledgeable artist to understand what a good pose and what a "random" unflattering pose is. Yes you can copy something straight from a photo and it will look true to life, but that doesn't mean it will be appealing.

Pic related as an example. Sure you COULD draw this pose, but nothing about this looks appealing unless you're purposely trying to elicit a certain wtf response from the viewer.
