He might be doing freelance work on the side too there's really no way to know. If someone pays you to make art, at least if it's implied to be for a commercial purpose, you can't post it on your public accounts so that's kind of a double-edged sword, there. You're making money from a client but might be, at least temporarily, stifling your opportunity to build your own brand.

Also I just noticed, he has two semi-recent pieces of fanart he did on twitter and he didn't tag them AT ALL. If you're lurking Darky you really have to make sure you include a "#<insert famous intellectual property name here>" whenever you draw something like that (at least that's how I think twitter works lmoa)
