Is drawing from shoulder a meme. How many of you actually do it?

Haha well I definitely recommend drawing with your shoulder/elbow if you already aren’t doing that. A quick google search will show you how. I bet you’ll be able to draw circles very easily after that.

Why the fuck is drawing with the elbow/shoulder so under emphasized? I have seen absolutely too many anons here that draw with their wrist and it’s ridiculous. My art skyrocketed once I started drawing with the shoulder and elbow more and used the wrist more. We need more of those YouTube videos about drawing to say “USE YOUR SHOULDER/ELBOW for this, not your wrist”. I hate seeing people who are *good* at drawing but don’t use their arm pivots correctly

Yeah, if you are using your shoulder/elbow you shouldn't be pushing hard at all.

in the end it's up to you, there are definitely professional artists who only draw with their wrists and still make it work. The reason people strongly recommend drawing with your shoulder is because it offers a greater area of control (as illustrated here) and more consistency as well as reduces the risk of you ending up with carpal tunnel syndrome.
