Gesture seems to be a thing that's different from artist to artist. Nicolaides suggests in "The Natural Way to Draw" that it should be a free form flow of lines that just indicate the energy of the pose. Most of the lines should be just come from feeling.

However, I went online and saw Proko likes to use these super strategic lines that seems to be the opposite of Nicolaides. He wants to portray as much energy from the pose as possible with the fewest amount of lines, and he seems to use a lot of prior knowledge anatomy that a beginner wouldn't have.

Fucking completely weird opposite styles of doing gesture.
