I'd rather be a mediocre artist. Art is not that important to society in general,for some people is jus a form of expression.
Well paid jobs often mean you posses more valuable skills and knowledge than an artist in the grand scheme of things. Also, you can get good over time or just discard the hobby.

Digital for painting, traditional for inkwork and sketching.

Sometime I like my half-assed sketch so much that I'm turning it into digital piece.
Or I switch to sketching with traditional medium if I feel like I'm stuck with some particular painting.
Other than that I'm trying to keep digital and traditional separate. First of all because as I'm adding more steps to my process it becomes less fluid and natural.
