God damn! That's it? I always assumed they at least had as many as an Intuos. One thing that kind of bewildered me when I started using my 12wx is why I literally paid $1200 to draw on a screen that was half the size of my monitor with really bad colors. Hopefully the color issues have been ironed out anyway.

I bought the artbook for this little animation made by an independent studio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FmkAcGz1BJk and when I got it and found it was right to left the shit made me want to throw up. The art was fun and all but when you throw out a cultural/linguistic convention just to be "different" in a totally superficial way it's just a needless annoyance.

Unless you're a rubber hose animator from the early 1900's or a photobasher you need to understand anatomy, proportions and the landmarks of the body. To do that you have to read about them and study them by drawing them a lot, producing academic style drawings in the process. Maybe not to the level of a top Russian painter-but academic nonetheless.

One film that has several anecdotes relevant to this subject is "Comic Con IV: a Fan's Hope" (http://www.hulu.com/watch/356864).). At the San Diego Comic Convention many independent comic publishers as well as the big two set up areas specifically for artists to bring their portfolios up for the company's perusal. In the film, the bad artist doesn't get hired and the more refined artist does albeit for a smaller studio. When it comes to art, we are doing something that many people simply can't do, it's not data entry or sales some some other menial task like that and having a degree doesn't mean you have a high degree of skill.
