Hey anon thanks again for the paintover, I think helped my decision making a lot. I studied it for a good long while looking at value and temperature and how you defined the forms. I still want to see if I can finish the one you edited but I did another one to experiment with what I tried to learn from your edit and though this still isn't great I think the value breakdown is much better, even though it's oversaturated. Maybe now I can use your adjustment layer tip. Just thought I'd share my progress. I won't bug you for another paintover but thanks for the advice you gave or might give, I appreciate it.
