For the ribs, an egg is good, like the Loomis sphere just stretched out more.
For the hips, only God knows. Fuck hips, that's some black magic shit right there. Cannot wrap my mind around them. If you could just straight up draw a real pelvis and connect the femurs and the leg muscles in the right places then I think that would be truly ideal, but failing that, a pair of underwear or even just a box are popular.

You're going through the ritual of drawing "construction lines" without actually understanding construction. For example, the rib cage is roughly a 3D egg shape, and the bottom edges of the rib cage will "wrap around" the curved surface, like how Loomis heads start with lines wrapping around a sphere. That's how the shadows at the bottom edges of the rib cage in your ref get their shape. But you haven't shown that, you just drew the rib cage as a flat circle.
Pic related is an example of how to construct body parts so they look 3D.
