Team PIZA doesn't feel like a team made up of artists, it feels like a group of mathematicians trying to calculate a way to win the contest as opposed to make a genuine piece of art.
Their one-shot "Graveler" is so obviously an attempt to kickstart a new contender for "The Big Three" by taking the most stereotypical happy go-lucky (but also a little clumsy) shonen hero and throwing him into a broad subject that hasn't been done before (such as treasure hunting). First off, they're completely missing the point. Mangaka have always made manga that reflect their deepest interests, with Oda making a pirate manga and Horikoshi making a caped superhero manga.
I doubt the people in Team PIZA hold very much passion towards treasure hunting, they just seem to focus on a single subject for a one-shot and when that doesn't win them the contest they throw it out and make a manga about something else, whereas a truly successful artist such as Oda kept making new one-shots about the same pirate story over and over again because that's all he wanted to work on.
PIZA is a team effort to saturate the submission pool with as much shit as possible. It's like an AI computer being told to produce a hot selling manga, it's so artificial and sterile.
