I've participated once, but it's not worth it.

>Expectation: I can make new art friends!
Reality: Server has dozens of thousands of people, there is no room for actual conversation, everything gets drowned in 5 minutes.

>Expectation: I can find some cool characters to draw and give me inspiration!
Reality: For every decent character, there are 99 Sanic the Steven Universe tranny ones. Plus, the Internet is already full of cool OCs you can find by browsing some art.

>Expectation: I might get some fanart and feel good about it!
Reality: The server is a hellscape of shilling your own shit if you hope to get anything, might as well work a real job and commission other artists to draw my characters for me.
Plus, even when you do get something, chances are it's going to be /beg/ AND tumblrfied in style, because most people in there are alphabet-spewing teenage girls.

tl;dr: Not worth it. Find OCs you like on Twatter and draw them instead. Or go to /ic/'s OC drawthread.

Advice you didn't ask for:

Leaving fun details for the adjacent tiles to continue is cool!

Eyedropping colors from other tiles adds to a cool cohesive feeling.

You can make fun challenges for the neighbor tiles and that's neato.

If you add the blank tile map as a 15% opacity overlay you can see how other artists connected their tiles.

Adding lil tiny easter eggs encourages peeps to look close and appreciate your tile.

Agreed, after I learned the magic of painting, I still sucked with line drawing and spent 1 year just painting aimlessly.
I didn't improve an inch - maybe I even regressed in drawing. Now I've come back to making lines and I can see all these bottlenecks popping up that prior were merely smudged by ambiguous brushstrokes.

Are you Asian-American? Cause that'd be just typical, top paranoia as always.

>I suspect the same bullshit would've happend, or been even worse, if I had a daughter or a sister.
Very relatable. I told my last girlfriend "you should know I will always have two lovers: my career and our daughter (when we have one)".
Then I dumped her cause she had no life goals but also didn't fit the supporting housewife role.

"Those who can't do, teach."

Ever heard this sentence? It only applies to males.
For females, it's
"Those who can't do, marry a rich husband."

So all the competent females are employed in the market, and if they can't compete in the market, they just toss it aside or make a vlog or some bullshit, they don't depend on it.

No matter how bad my drawings are, my friends like them cause they like stuff that comes from my perspective
