guess i'll give some general advice for you dorks:

-keep a traditional sketchbook. digital works as well if you can't help it, but traditional is usually better (less distractions, less shortcuts, possibly better for learning hand/eye coordination). the goal is not to fill up one sketchbook, but multiple, so draw a lot.

-you HAVE to be able to do studies. it is the most fundamental skill check for an artist. you HAVE to get this skill to at least an intermediate level or nothing else you do will work out.
you don't necessarily have to do a lot of them, unless you're really shit, then you will have to do a lot of them :^).
