I took your advice and went back to edit some of my own work to contrast solid cast shadows mixed with airbrushed shadows and it does make a world of difference.

This was the before, and the one I posted looks much better with your suggestions about shadows. So thank you, I forgot how to take my time and add the right shadows where they need to be, but thanks to your help, I was able to remember. Tacking on an additional 45 minutes to my work to gain a better result doesn't hurt at all. The results are so much better, in my opinion.
Thanks again and I'm glad you learned something by helping me out. That's what it's all about in the end, helping each other discover, or re-discover lost tips and tricks that really do help down the road.
