This "girl artists/non-white artists get attention only for their gender/race" shit is something people peddle just to satiate their jealously and feelings of inadequacy when they see other people being successful. For every of the scant popular female/minority artists who advertises themself based on their identity, there are 50 more who got by on their own merit, and 500 more who aren't popular at all because people don't like their art.
Complaining about minorities getting attention is just a way of diverting from the real problem of why you're not popular, because your art isn't good.
