the anon in /msg/ started drawing in 2020, and his work looks like this. It's already professional, imo

>i don't even know how to get started with drawing... i felt inspired after reading berserk, and although i know it would take over a decade of effort before i even scratch the surface of Miura's skills, i still want to know how to get started
Get your accuracy to 80%
Keys to Drawing or Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain will teach you how to be accurate. Anons hate DOTRSOTB but it's where I started and the exercises are good, just ignore everything else she says.
>i'm thinking of maybe buying a tablet so i can draw on my computer? i've seen some cool stuff drawn with software
Tablet is fine for beginners, don't listen to anons who say otherwise. Don't rely on undo.
>i hate to ask such a basic question, but would anybody be able to suggest to me where i would even start?
Learn how to stop symbol drawing, then grind accuracy until you can copy things with ~80% accuracy. Then learn your fundies (markmaking, gesture, perspective, construction) and spend half your time doing studies of Miura since that's your inspo.

>maybe get a cheap little drawing tablet and follow tutorials for a while? this is just a hobby so i don't expect to get paid or be excellent or anything
Cheap tablet is fine. Get them used, no reason to buy brand new. When artists upgrade their tablets, they get rid of their old ones even if there's nothing wrong with them. I got a 380 USD MSRP for 200 and it works like a charm.

The Bridgman copies are tough but rewarding. I also use Morpho and Stonehouse for anatomy and simplification.
