I think that the manga thing has to do with how most manga artists stylize their works.
When you look at one punch man for instance, there's a lot of detail, but many of the features of the human body are left out.
Compare jung-gi's saitama to murata's.
Just by looking at the nose you can see that Jung-gi has made it look more like a normal human nose, while murata has stylized it more heavily.
That's why I believe it looks off anyway, because KJG doesn't remove those features that are typically not present in manga or anime, or at least he didn't in your example.
