Hear me out. It's a crazy idea. Totally out there. Are you ready? Maybe... Are you really ready?. Maybe All those /int/ artists, All those advanced and professional artists, Those guys? Who 99% of them spent their youth drawing anime and cartoon people for 2000 hours before ever considering taking art study seriously... Maybe this low stakes learning period they ALMOST ALL HAVE IN COMMON of doodling low effort drawings actually is a cornerstone and tremendous boon to one's artistic development overall?

It's a radical idea. Perish the thought! a beginner artist doing anything but grinding bargue plates and loomis heads and perspetive and gesture study. I know, its heresy. Utterly depraved. Even evil perhaps? But. maybe because, you know, 99% of /int/ and above level artists on /ic/ litrally have their old, early to mid-2010 dA's full of crude anime fan art drawings from their youth.. Maaaaaaybe there's some credence to this idea I'm tossing out here.

Digital art beg here. I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't even know what the difference between sketching and line art is. My drawing process is so janky. I draw a person, make a new layer and draw over it, changing a little bit, then make a new layer, drawing over it again, repeat. Usually I repeat this 5+ times. My "workflow" or time spent drawing is totally inflated, probably because I treat my "sketch phase" like a lineart phase? I draw lots of details even if I'm trying to "sketch". But I need to draw details before I can really realize how long I made the torso, or how narrow I made the pelvis, etc

Also, I dont know how the first thing about how to do digital art. If I decide to color something it takes me forever because I dont know any shortcuts. Complex selection tools, layer manipulation, filling, blurring, blending, whatever fancy stuff, I never use. I use the default brushes in SAI and I use layers, and I use the lasso and transform tools, and that's really it. I flip the canvas but rarely rotate it. I have no idea what stabilizer setting to use. I picked 7 to use on a whim. I have no idea how big to make my brush. I have no idea how big I should be drawing, how often I should zoom in, etc

I try to look up digital art/paint tool SAI tutorial videos but all the ones Ive seen are made by very young people who make beg tier art themselves. I feel like all talented digital artists have been dicking around with PS/SAI for over a decade and they know how all this shit works and never really bother to explain it, or its too engrained in them to explain it.

I dont expect a helpful response to this post. I know I am just another shitty dime a dozen anime drawing beg with a tablet a bunch of delusional in a sea of begs and I dont deserve to be helped. But I still feel compelled to make this shitpost.
