>Parkinson’s Law: work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion. Basically, we tend to fill the time we have. If we have a lot, it is often filled with busyness. If we are crunched for time, we often are forced to use it efficiently.
The challenge being 2 months long was a mistake that lead to procrastination. Some of those who procrastinated long enough have left the site. Most people submit sketches to DAD, rarely do you see wip lasting longer than a day or two. It was naive to think people would take the 2 months out of their time to work their hardest on mechas.

Also do challenges conflict with the global "30 minutes minimum" rule of effort? I saw a lot tribunal talk about DAB and mecha... so it makes me wonder should challenges clearly state how much time each submission should take?
