ok ill try but i think you have the wrong idea about gesture

the definition from google:

a movement of part of the body, especially a hand or the head, to express an idea or meaning.
"Alex made a gesture of apology"
synonyms: signal, sign, motion, indication, gesticulation; show
"a gesture of surrender"

so a gesture CONVEYS something greater than itself

if a make gesture of pointing my fingers like a gun at you, i am CONVEYING shooting you, something you yourself ascertain from a small gesture. nothing about pointing my fingers like a gun and saying BOOM is anything like a real gun, your intellect makes the jump and goes "oh GUN !"

in a gesture drawing you are trying to convey the final drawing before actually drawing it.

i'll make a tutorial real quick using posemaniacs so you better understand that actual process, and hopefully merit of doing gesture drawings (which to a beginner seem pointless, but that they are difficult, but simple, should clue you in to the fact that are worth learning)
