I know what you mean; I had a friend who was a very good pixel artist but then lost his mind and and began drawing like this, in a very cutesy "lo-fi" way. I don't have any of this later art saved but it was very mesmerizing.

Some artists that give me that vibe as well are "abunaiyo" a "schizo" jap I follow on pixiv, that is now inactive. Lots of semi-interesting art with cutesy elements. https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/6039710
