Few art schools have any credibility anymore but they STILL pull in thousands of students and leave them in debt to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars. It's disgusting.

There are only a few "real" art schools if you want to treat art as a craft. I suggest you go into maps.google.com and search for an "atelier" instead. You may be surprised how near one is to your home; I know I was.

>I left

lol, did you actually drop out? That's pretty ballsy man, but a totally appropriate response. I feel bad for kids that go through several costly semesters of that sort of thing only to find out that it doesn't get any better and now they're tens of thousands of dollars in debt with no practical skills whatsoever. Good on you for seeing the writing on the wall early (unless this was a sort of 'straw that broke the camel's back' kind of scenario). Care to elaborate on your art school experience further?

>I mean at one point they put up a graph that is something like "time passed versus how good art is" and just draw a silly downwards squiggle and say "See what we mean?"

...but what they're saying is true, the graph is silly but it's more or less correct

>pic related

I like how you claim the works being criticized are "cherry picked" as if none of us could go to an art gallery right now and affirm the lack of standards for ourselves. Stay delusional you retarded pothead.

>art school

See pic, watch video

https://vimeo.com/57349573#t=2313s

Art graduates have some of the highest unemployment rates and art schools are among the most expensive in the world.

http://www.forbes.com/pictures/lmj45ldff/the-least-valuable-college-majors/

If you want to get good at art that isn't the kind of SHIT you see in museums these days often completely by happenstance (you obviously can't plan to be the next Damien Hirst or Basquiat or whatever nigger-jew-homo the "avant garde" community plans on trotting out next) stick to relatively inexpensive online classes like "New Masters Academy", watch a lot of Proko videos (He may come across as an effeminate weirdo but to his credit he's among the best art teachers I've encountered online and he can be genuinely funny sometimes), etc.

In the US at least, art school costs like $30,000 a semester. It's disgusting, if it's more than a third of that where you live accounting for exchange rates and so on do yourself a favor and cut your losses as soon as you can.
